Nan Chauncy Award
The Children’s Book Council of Australia National Board
administers the Nan Chauncy Award named for British-born Australian Children’s author Nan Chauncy. The Award honours an Australian who has made an outstanding contribution over a number of years to the field of Australian Children’s Literature be they an editor, publisher, teacher, librarian, bookseller, researcher, journalist, author or illustrator.
Previous winners are: Marcie Muir, Joyce Oldmeadow, Laurie Copping, Walter McVitty, Belle Alderman, Maurice Saxby, Margaret Hamilton, Muriel Barwell, Margaret Wild, Lesley Reece and Robyn Sheahan-Bright.
The CBCA Board appoints a Coordinator who manages the Awards and calls together a panel comprising of representative from three CBCA Branches on a Rotational System.
