Contemporary Australian Indigenous Voices: are you up to date? is designed to inform teachers of the range of contemporary book resources available which may be incorporated into teaching and learning activities, with a focus on preparing programs for NAIDOC Week. Focus will be on the appropriate and respectful use of Indigenous Australian created works and their use in educational settings. The course will have four Indigenous Australian Creatives presenting. They will be authors, illustrators, or educators who will speak about the creative process in their work, their link to country and the appropriate and respectful use of their work in classrooms.
The 2019 NAIDOC Week theme is 'Voice Treaty Truth: Let's work together for a shared future'.

There will also be half an hour for attendees to browse the book display provided by Magabala Books, the leading Indigenous publisher in Australia, and by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to familiarise themselves with the current books and develop programming ideas with colleagues.

This event has 2 ½ hrs NESA approved  PD
