Maurice Saxby Lecture

This lecture is held every two years.

The biennial Maurice Saxby Lecture recognises the contribution made to the CBCA by Dr H Maurice Saxby AM (1924 - 2014), especially as first National President, and his ongoing involvement and support over more than sixty years. He was one of the most significant people involved in the development of children’s literature in Australia, as a highly-respected lecturer, writer, reviewer and mentor and was recognised internationally as an authority on children’s literature.

CBCA NSW Branch Inc has been fortunate to receive books from his library and have formed “The Maurice Saxby Children’s Literature Reference Library” which is now housed in the office. A list of titles may be accessed here and any member, who is studying or interested in borrowing from this, should contact the office

The Maurice Saxby Lecture will continue the tradition of education about Australian children’s literature established so brilliantly by Maurice Saxby.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2017 Maurice Saxby Lecture has been postponed until later in the year.
